The Ultimate Culinary Experience: Dinner on a Local Maine Farm

In life we find ourselves searching for that perfect meal we walk away from feeling satisfied. Wander at Longwoods in Cumberland, Maine is exactly that. I went into this meal with high expectations thanks to all the recommendations on my Facebook page. It lived up to the hype. Despite an evening reservation last night I still haven't eaten a thing since dinner. I went all-in. Let me take you on this journey of what I indulged in. It was my first time on the farm and it was worth the wait.

Yes, I'm starting off with ice cream. The French vanilla with chocolate sauce was absolutely to die for. It also cooled off my palette after eating 2 spicy pizzas (more on those later). Back to the sweet treat I savored every spoonful of. Everything on the farm seems to be made on premises. You can really taste it in the ice cream. Add the chocolate sauce on top and the chilled mug and you have a dessert even non-ice cream lovers need to try. It's that good.

This is a farm that is all about agriculture and it's called a "forever farm" for a reason. Sitting at the chef's table you can watch the team using everything to make delicious meals while wasting nothing. They are all working as a cohesive unit. It's a pleasure to watch while enjoying a delightful meal.

I started with the Kohlrabi salad after it was highly recommended by my waitress. The cheese and pine nuts with black pepper and fresh parsley all blended so well with the Kohlrabi noodles. I enjoy every bite and wanted more, that's how I know a salad is good.

The tomato pie is loaded with parmesan cheese. The crust is cooked perfectly in the wood fired oven. This is super thin and light pizza. It's also spicy. I wanted to only eat half and wait for my next pizza, but that didn't end up working out. I was finishing the last bite of the whole pie as my next pizza arrived.

It's a meat lover's paradise. Sausage and hot peppers with onions. This is a spicy pizza, but not heavy or filling. The crust is charred nicely and the toppings and cheese don't overload the pizza. I ate the whole thing without hesitation. Thin and crispy is my favorite type of pizza for this exact reason, you can eat the whole thing.

My only regret was not getting the apple crispy with the vanilla ice cream. But that will be for my next visit and when I have more room for dessert. A wonderful experience and a true hidden gem in Maine. You'll love your time here. www.facebook.com/jasonnappiwx

This place sounds absolutely wonderful! French vanilla ice cream with warm chocolate sauce is the best and the pizzas look really good too! I love thin and crispy pizza and I have always been able to eat a lot of it and now I know why, it’s because it’s so thin and crispy. So I’ll just keep telling myself that as I over indulge the next time!!🤣
