"Exploring the Authenticity of Maine's Oldest Cash-Only Pizza Joint"

"Old gas stations never die" and neither does great pizza. I have been to Angelone's three times now and every time I go it gets better and better. This is as classic, old school Maine pizza as it gets. Think house of pizza, but thin and crispy. It's delicious.

The owner recommended I try pineapple on my pizza for the first time and I said, yes! Why not? You only live once. Grandma is not happy with me, but I went for it. It turns out the pizza was prefect. The sweetness from the pineapple married well with the savory of the pepperoni. The onions were a great addition and I ate the whole thing in minutes.

Getting back to the Angelone's for a bit...this is Maine's first family of pizza makers. They've had more than one location, but now it's just Westbrook. They are still going strong and you will be treated like family once you walk in the door.

It's a business that has been passed down for generations. It's also cash only. My first time there I forgot to bring cash and made my way to the bank next door. Darrell paid for my pizza and I made sure to return the favor on my next visit.

I can't recommend Angelone's in Westbrook enough. It's a step back into time. After all these years the pizza is s good as it gets.

There's something about this place. It's an old gas station and for some reason "gas stations never die."
